Booking your theory test:
You must have a provisional driving licence to book your theory test. Firstly, the theory test which is made up of two parts, a multiple-choice test and a Hazard Perception test which is designed to improve and test your anticipation skills. I would recommend that you start to study for the theory test as you begin your lessons or even before that.

You book and take them as a single test.
You must pass both parts to pass the test.

Multiple-choice questions

The questions in the theory test are based on 3 books:

Study these to learn the rules and skills you’ll be tested on.
You can buy them from most high street and online book shops.

Take a practice test
Take a official practice driving theory test to check how much you’ve learnt. It only includes the multiple-choice questions - it doesn’t include the hazard perception part. The practice questions aren’t used in the real test, but they’re based on the same topics as the test. http://www.safedrivingforlife.info/take-official-free-practice-driving-theory-test/car-practice-theory-tests/car-practice-test-one

Hazard perception test
Buy the official guide to hazard perception for your PC or Mac to learn hazard perception skills and then test them. http://www.safedrivingforlife.info/shop/product/official-dvsa-guide-hazard-perception-dvd-rom-software
You can buy it from most high street and online bookstores.
